House H is a residence of 540m2 with an exterior pool and pool house. The site is a beautiful free lot of 2,800m2 in the rural area of Overijssel, The Netherlands. The house is designed like a flexible envelope around the interior plan rather than creating an outside shape that fits the spaces. The central hallway runs from the front to the back. The sleeping areas are in the black, zinc-clad wing, while the open-plan living space is encompassed by a zinc-clad undulating roof, large windows and transitional spaces under the canopies. In the middle of the house, a light-court lets light into the partially underground spaces (guesthouse and lounge area). On the garden side, both levels have access to the garden and terraces. The outdoor pool is visible through the underwater window from the lower floor terraces and forms a central point in the garden.
